We would like to inform you of important information regarding on-call hours in the emergency department. This applies only to the specific On-site On-call Agreement.
During your on-call shift, if you indicate fractions of hours, please note that the hours will be rounded up only in either of these two situations:
If 30 minutes have been completed
Examples:
- On-call from 4:30 PM to 12:00 AM = bill from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM
- On-call from 4:45 PM to 12:00 AM = bill from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM
- On-call from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM = bill from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- On-call from 8:00 AM to 5:10 PM = bill from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
If you see a patient after the end of your shift
Example:
- On-call scheduled from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, patient seen at 5:10 PM, the on-call period is billed until 6:00 PM
We strongly encourage you to indicate complete on-call hours for every shift.
