We would like to pay a particular attention to point 11.1 regarding the compensation for the practice fees added to the LA 269.

Here are the requirements necessary to bill this fee following the last update:

11.1. What are the requirements needed to bill the practice fees when the doctor bills his time via the LA 269?

  • The facility or unit is designated LA 269 ;
  • There are practice fees to cover while working in a COVID unit;
  • The time spent in this designated COVID unit is a reassignment, not the usual work done in this unit by the doctor.

11.2. Who cannot bill those practice fees?

  • Any doctor doing Population-based WALK-IN  (Sans rendez-vous populationnel) in a GMF or GMF-R cannot bill those fees. They can, however, bill the support to the practice supplement as define by the EP 40. To do so, the patients seen must be registered at the Registre des consultations.

11.3. How many hours can be billed?

  • In a CDP : every hour worked;
  • In a designated COVID unit: 1 4-hour period per day.

The 3rd condition implies that you cannot bill the supplement for the practice fees if you are working in your usual ER or hospital unit.

If you wish to have this supplement billed, it will be primordial for now on to indicate it alongside your other LA 269 information.

Please note that if you are working in a CDE or CDP the supplement is automatically billed.

In a GMF-R it cannot be billed at all.

Thank you and if you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact your Medical Billing Advisor.
